Making Real Sourdough

Head of Production Fort doesn’t cut corners when it comes to making proper loaves of bread. All of the homemade bread we stock in the farm shop is freshly baked and incredibly tasty. Come along and see how we make these wonderful loaves of bread!

Our sourdough loaves are made using just the traditional ingredients- flour, water & salt. We don’t add baker’s yeast or additives, so you can be sure what you’re getting in the farm shop is the real deal. [image of ingredients]

Making sourdough takes time, but it’s totally worth it. Here at TPP, the starter is left to ferment for 24 hours before it’s mixed to make a dough and left to mature.


On the same day, it’s then put into the moulds to cold prove overnight.


We bake bread everyday and our early birds can catch these loaves whilst they’re still warm out the oven! The proof is definitely in the pudding when it comes to bread, and with its characteristic tangy flavour, chewy texture and crispy crust, these loaves are totally worth the time
