Shop Local - Bakeries
Stay at home – Shop local – Support businesses
As we are all instructed to once again stay at home, it’s a great opportunity to take another look and appreciate what’s on your doorstep. For us at the farm shop sourcing great quality, local produce has always been a priority. We are extremely fortunate to have an abundance of amazing local food and drink producers to choose from.
When you shop local you are not only supporting us, but many other local businesses that rely on us to distribute their products.
The first of our local producer articles features the bakeries that supply our farm shop, Blakes Bakery, The Cornish Sourdough Bakery and Foxcombe Bakehouse.
Blakes Bakery is a family run business originating in Liskeard, who now bake at a production unit in Doublebois. They are passionate about using natural and local ingredients wherever possible.
Blakes supply us with their fresh bread, wholemeal, white and granary, available sliced or uncut, rolls, cakes, scones and their infamous Cornish saffron buns. Look out for their delicious hot cross buns which will be available soon for Easter.

They supply us with a selection of their traditional sourdough using totally organic flour, it’s vegan friendly and low G.I. The team pride themselves on making a true sourdough that does not contain any additives, preservatives or additional commercial yeast.… a healthier bread all round.
A well as traditional sourdough they also bake a variety of delicious flavoured sourdough breads, focaccia and sweet treats.

Foxcombe Bakehouse cakes and confectionary are baked at the aptly-named Foxcombe Farm in Lewdown. They supply us with a lovely selection of cakes from classic jam sponges and fruit cakes to coffee and walnut loaf or lemon refreshers as well as biscuits and “on the go bars” also available as gluten free. We love that Foxcombe Bakehouse have introduced plastic-free packaging for their products.
Foxcombe offer a fabulous “treats by post” service which was very popular with our customers at Christmas. We were delighted to hear that Foxcombe have saved the day for a lady in Derbyshire who is having to spend her 80th birthday alone due to lock down. Having received a Foxcombe Christmas treat box via Tre, Pol & Pen, she has ordered afternoon tea boxes for herself and family members who are all going to get together virtually on zoom to enjoy their treats together. Speak to a member of our team if you would like to order one too!
